Boulder, Colorado is located on the Eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains and is named for the rocks of the Flatirons. Boulder is located only 30 miles from Denver.

In May 2001, Boulder was rated #4 in the Forbes-Milken Institute’s list of best places to do business or advance your career. It was also the small city runner-up in Money magazine’s Best Places to Live 2000. Local residents are actively involved in preserving the area’s open space. Boulder was included in Health Magazine as one of “America’s 10 Fittest Cities.”

Boulder offers kayaking, running, hiking, rock climbing, skiing and snowboarding opportunities! There are also 35 miles of bike lanes, 48 miles of multi-use paths, and 50 miles of bike routes, making biking a favorite mode of travel in Boulder.

The city has a population of 94,673 residents with a median age of 29 years of age. The University of Colorado provides a resident base of students. 66% of the residents over 25 have a bachelor’s degree or higher. The median household income is $44,748, but the median family income is $70,257. 53% are employed in management, professional or related fields, while 37% are in sales, office, or service occupations.

There are 30,000 acres of open space and trails that reveal flower-filled meadows in the summer and snow-capped vistas in the winter. There are also 200 miles of hiking and biking trails with varying degrees of difficulty. A drive up Flagstaff Mountain offers spectacular views of Boulder, the Front Range and the Continental Divide. The town was also rated the “#1 Sports Town in America” and the “Best Place to be an Uberjock” by Outside Magazine.

A few of the many unique attractions include the Fiske Planetarium to search for distant worlds, the Celestial Tea company where you can take factory tours of Celestial’s tea making process, sample the newest flavors, and view their original paintings and teapot collection, and the Dushanbe Teahouse. The teahouse offers an eclectic, international menu and teas from all over the world.

The Pearl Street Mall has a great selection of restaurants, bookstores, boutiques, and sidewalk cafes. It hosts seasonal art shows, craft fairs, musical presentations and street performers. Flatiron Crossing is a large shopping mall conveniently located 9 miles from Boulder. It includes Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Lord & Taylor, and Foley’s, as well as several feature stores, theaters, and an outdoor village.
